Combination spiritual space and mixed-use student center.

The Drexel University Center for Spiritual Life, or DUCSL, is a building designed in my second year at Drexel.

Designed on a site overlooking a park and the Philly skyline, DUCSL has a mixed-use program including a spiritual space, meeting rooms, and a library.

The white sacred space sits beneath the massive, monolithic secular space, holding it up with it's pointed roof.

Circulation occurs on the angled ramp formed by the interplay of the two volumes, and is intermingled with seating facing a large projection screen.

A library and dining room reside on the top floor, with conference/meeting rooms on the floors below.

The large window in the spiritual space is enhanced by projectors, creating many augmented reality effects including identifying constellations, tracking the movements of the sun and moon, and changing the image of the sky.
